geoSpark - WARNING: Highly Addictive! app good for
They mean it when they say highly addictive. It is very colorful and rather simple to play. All you have to do is tap or drag the shapes to their look-alikes to gain points. Thats all there is to it.
This may possibly be the most mindlessly addicting game app out there. It has been my crack ever since i discovered it 8 hours ago and no other app has gotten more then 6 min of attention since. It is hard to describe; the best i can do is: If the bubble popping (match colors of three or more together) game was to have an offspring with a classic space shooter from the 80s. The nasty basard would probably be something like this. Its basically a fast simple arcade type game and I have trouble imagening someone not becoming completely addicted to it. So if you like to, you know, do things with your life... probably should avoid this black hole of time. Eh.... actually, everyone should have it.
I give it an A+ (A in this case standing for "atrociously addicting "
Dont listen to the 1 star reviews. The app is beautiful. The music is fitting and sounds great. The UI is precise. There are no bugs and the framerate is sharp. The gameplay... Theyre not joking when they say its addictive. Its all about the gravity influence. This is a game of greed vs reflexes. Me and my wife are battling for the household high score. :)
I really think those who are rating this poorly are simply seeing "Geo_____" and assuming its a tower defender. This game is a casual skill puzzler along the lines of the great Eliss with the addictive strength of Bejewelled.
To those who purchased this thinking it is a TD: please consider playing this with an open mind and fixing your review. Youve bought an AppStore gem, even if it isnt what you expected. :)
Its too slow in the beginning, and you just never feel challenged. Thats not to say it isnt, but it just doesnt have that hectic feel some other games have. If it had difficulty settings, with the harder difficulty settings becoming more challenging faster, I think I would give this 5 stars.
Its not that you necessarily have to figure out on your own how to play, because if you click the "?" at the start of the game it opens up a tutorial which shows you exactly what you need to do. What seems complex, is very simple. All you must do is group similar patterns together and avoid letting any two different patterns connect together.
This game does get difficult as your score gets up and will make you want to keep on playing.
It is also great for killing a few minutes in-between classes, at the airport, or something of that sort.
The graphics are lovely... but they could be more extravagant. Which is probably the main reason for 4 stars.
Other than that, I love this and it was definitely worth spending a dollar for.
Awesome yet simple. Beautiful and indeed addictive. Whoever doesnt like this game is just wrong.
Some bad moments
I am a huge fan of the geo series and to its credit the graphics and sounds are excellent and the originality of the game is nice but in my opinion not to the standards of the other two games in terms of fun or addictiveness. Maybe worth the dollar but dont expect much.
These geo- games have gone downhill fast. The first defense game was about the best Id ever payed on my itouch. Challenging fun and well designed. Geoswarm was close to that but too hard and frustrating. Still a good game. This spark game is just stupid. Its not addictive at all, theres no strategy involved, its just mindless dragging and pointing. It gets hard only because the screen gets so cluttered not because of any design cleverness, just due to more crap showing up. Really disappointing. And dont believe the reviews that say its a great time waster for 99 cents. Not true. Its a great money waster. Instead try something like sneezies or bejeweled. Bleah. This game sucked.
Ps: I wouldnt trust any reviews that praise "the partnership of 2 development companies" (obviously they had the 2 companies write a ton of fake reviews) or reviews that praise the help file. Like wow it has help files! Give it 4 stars! Lol. What a joke. And addictive? anyone who plays this for more than a few minutes has issues. (one guy said he played for an hour and didnt stop except to write the review. Another locked himself in his room for 6 or 8 hours to play? Please. What total B S.)
Not addictive like Geo Defense, nor even as remotely fun as Swarm. This game needs some serious gameplay balancing.
Geo spark needs levels and should build up to frustrating. Instead its just frustrating to begin with.
Sorry, I really did want to like this game.
This games premise is good and is very fun in a limited way. However, it is inexcusable and totally unacceptable for a game like this to have NO INSTRUCTIONS. Yes, there is a brief, minimal visual tutorial, but it is incomplete. Please note:
There is actually a bit of strategy involved, but you cant tell and dont know how because there are no instructions. A few concrete examples:
1. Chaining causes the units to move faster and gravitate towards yur finger. When u stop chaining and start tapping it slows back down. However, you have to waste a lot of time being frustrated before u realize this and account for it. This should be included in instructions.
2. I still cant tell if different units have different point values or not. The number flashes are too fast and unclear.
3. There is a rotating multicolor circle that appears to haveno numerical value at all for either tapping or dragging and that appears to negate chain points. I just dont know what it does. Instructions telling us what it is would be appreciated.
4. The explosion circles: if u drag a chain onto it, it leaves all of the other units of the same type unexploded. I dont know of theres point bonus for this or not. Also, when u explode The circle units, i dont know if u get chain points or bonus points or penalty. A description of their full function would be appreciated.
5. Different types of units appear to have different behaviors, but u r moving so fast that u dont have time to catalogue and examine them to plan an approach to dealing with specific units. Once again, an instruction page cataloguing the units and theirfeatures is necssary.
At higher levels the game becomes unfair because the units coming in off the side of the screen come so fast and are so cluttered close to other units that they spark and end the game literally as they become visible; you have literally no visible lead time.
I love geo defense and I bought this game without hesitation. Unfortunately there are no instructions about how to play it. I dont know what Im doing...
I loved geodefense and geoswarm, but this game has no point to it. There r no instructions
